v0.6.2 Latest

v0.6.2

What's New in v0.6.1

Right-click Context Menus in the Binder

  • Right-click any chapter, character, map, timeline, codex entry, or folder for a clean context menu — Duplicate, Rename, Exclude/Include in word count, and Move to Trash, depending on the item type
  • Inline hover buttons removed from every binder row, so long titles and folder names no longer get squeezed by competing icons
  • Folders: right-click for Add item…, Rename, and Move to Trash (the old + button is gone — right-click is the discoverable entry point now)
  • Menus auto-clamp into the viewport, so right-clicking near the bottom of the screen no longer pushes them off-screen

Duplicate Maps & Timelines

  • Maps and timelines now support Duplicate from the right-click menu, mirroring the existing chapter and character duplicate behavior

Cleaner Chapter Rows

  • Removed the small page icon next to chapter titles in favor of a MANUSCRIPT sub-label, matching the style of characters, maps, and codex entries
  • Long chapter titles now wrap cleanly without competing for space with hover buttons

Destructive Actions Look Destructive

  • "Move to Trash" entries in every context menu are red, with a red-tinted hover background
  • Sidebar Empty Trash button reads danger at rest (not just on hover)
  • The per-item "Delete permanently" trash button is red
  • Project deletion in the dashboard (card button + confirmation modal) now uses theme danger tokens consistently across parchment, midnight, and daylight themes

v0.6.0

v0.6.0

What's New in v0.6.0

Exclude Chapters from Word Count

  • New per-chapter "Exclude from word count" toggle (the # icon in the binder row) — perfect for alt versions, drafts, or scratch chapters you want to keep around without inflating your project total
  • Excluded chapters appear italic and dimmed in the binder, with a strike-through on their word count
  • The open chapter shows a "not counted" pill in the status bar so you always know where its words are going
  • All totals respect the flag: sidebar footer, corkboard, outliner, dashboard, session tracker, daily history, and project goal progress

Editor Zoom Now Persists

  • Zoom level survives chapter switches, view changes, and app restarts — no more rezooming every time you come back

Bookmark Fix

  • Bookmarks now stay anchored to the same content as you edit. Previously, typing or deleting before a bookmark would silently shift the actual position, so returning to it landed on the wrong page. The bookmark is now remapped through every edit and the new position is persisted automatically.

v0.4.5

v0.4.5

What's New

Granular Session Tracking

  • Session now shows words written (+) and words edited (-) separately — no more confusing "0" after a productive editing session
  • Per-chapter breakdown on the project overview so you see exactly where your work went
  • Progress bar tracks words written (gross), not net — editing doesn't steal your progress

Snapshot Viewer Polish

  • Snapshot previews are now fully read-only — no accidental edits
  • Clear "SNAPSHOT — Read Only" banner at the top of the editor
  • Snapshot badge in the split pane tab so you always know what you're looking at
  • Toolbar, rulers, and status bar hidden in snapshot view for a clean reading experience
  • Redesigned snapshot panel with cleaner layout and click-to-preview

Sidebar

  • Binder label is now a clickable shortcut back to the project overview

v0.4.4

v0.4.4

What's New

  • Theme polish — Pastel Eclipse softened to actually feel pastel (lighter backgrounds, desaturated canvas). Writefully theme reworked with deep teal accent and aged ivory for an old-bookshop feel. Midnight theme now shows dark text on white manuscript pages.
  • Project Overview redesign — Stats grouped into labeled clusters (Today, Your Project, Patterns) instead of a wall of 8 equal cards. Tools section changed from large icon cards to compact pills. More breathing room between sections.
  • Back navigation — All tool views (Manuscript Health, Writing History, Character Web, Outliner, Character Presence) now show a "← Project Overview" button at the top for easy navigation back.
  • Highlights & Notes in tools menu — Now accessible from the sidebar gear menu under Views, not just the Corkboard.

v0.4.3

v0.4.3

What's New

  • Fix: macOS launch crash — Resolved code signing Team ID mismatch that caused "Library missing: Electron Framework" crash on launch. DMGs are now re-signed with consistent ad-hoc identity.
  • Fix: macOS auto-updater — Auto-restart after update download is now disabled on macOS (it was breaking the ad-hoc code signature). Updates still download silently and install on next quit. A restart banner appears when an update is ready.
  • Windows: Discord-style auto-restart still works as before.

v0.4.2

v0.4.2

What's New

  • Fix: Project rename — Renaming a project now properly validates paths, checks for name conflicts, and reloads all entity lists (chapters, characters, maps, timelines, codex) so paths stay in sync. Open editors are cleared to prevent stale-path errors.

v0.4.1

v0.4.1

What's New

  • Fix: Manuscript Health text extraction — HTML entities ( , , smart quotes, etc.) are now properly decoded before analysis. Words like "nbsp" and "mdash" no longer appear in word frequency results.
  • Improved sentence splitting — Sentences now split at punctuation followed by uppercase letters, avoiding false splits on abbreviations like "Mr." or "U.S."
  • Better word matching — Word regex matches real words including hyphens and apostrophes, filtering out HTML entity fragments
  • Word frequency fix — The existing word frequency feature also benefits from the same clean text extraction

v0.4.0

v0.4.0

What's New

  • Manuscript Health — New analysis view that checks your writing patterns with zero AI. Tracks sentence rhythm, adverb density, passive voice ratio, dialogue balance, repeated sentence starters, and overused words. Includes editorial guidance explaining what each metric means and what to aim for. Accessible from the Project Overview and sidebar tools menu.
  • Smart Typography — Type --- for em dash, -- for en dash, ... for ellipsis, and get smart quotes automatically in all editors.
  • Theme-safe health colors — Manuscript Health indicators use fixed green/amber/red colors that stay distinct across all app themes.

v0.3.9

  • ePub Book Styles — Choose from 3 interior design themes when exporting to ePub: Classic (drop caps, centered headings, * scene breaks), Modern (clean sans-serif, minimal), and Literary (elegant italic headings, wide margins)
  • Author / Pen Name — New per-project author field on the Project Overview page (with quill icon). Shows on Dashboard project cards and is embedded in ePub and DOCX metadata
  • Sidebar Menu Restructure — Tools menu (⚙ icon) grouped by Views, Project, and Settings. Add menu (+) grouped by Writing, Story, and Codex. Import moved alongside Export
  • Import H2 Fallback — Importing Word/Markdown files now falls back to H2 headings when no H1s are found, improving compatibility with Scrivener exports
